Well that worked out. I was happy when Cody didn’t use the veto, and then the goal was to get six votes together to get Becky out. I felt really bad about that, since it’s always tough to watch the least active people stick around, and I don’t want to be the person responsible for that. But I also felt like Becky and co were doing the same thing, targeting Jen and Kelsey ahead of the active people. And if they’re going to do that and make moves that are best for their game, then I’m going to vote Becky out if it’s best for my game.
I wasn’t sure if the votes were there at first. Me, Kelsey and surprisingly enough Jackie were all on board, and Jackie said she had Erika. Howard said he was on board but he was being very wishy washy. David said he was evicting Corey since he doesn’t talk to him, which, fair, but come on David. Corey isn’t going after you and Becky is the much, much, much bigger threat. But after I got David to admit that he’d like to get rid of both Corey and Becky and pointed out that Becky’s a lot harder to get rid of, and that Becky’s alliance was more than just what we knew, he was on board. Kelsey also helped a lot too.
The other votes were trickier. Jun was telling me the night before and even the day of that she wasn’t sure what she wanted to do, before suddenly agreeing to vote for Becky. Ika I had no contact with until two hours before the vote, when she told me she was still on the fence. Girl, the deadline is in two hours! You need to make up your mind! She eventually told me that she was voting to evict Becky, even though she told her the night before she was voting to keep her.
Cody pointed out that a lot of these people were just going along with the majority, and he’s right. There was an 8-3 vote for Becky to go but that’s deceiving, and I don’t expect all the people who voted for her to go to be on my side in the future. The thing is, Cody is also one of those people. I didn’t appreciate the way he played this vote. He said nothing to me until right before the deadline, where he said that he was evicting Corey because of his “conscience” or because they didn’t speak or whatever, and that he knew Becky was going anyway. I kind of feel like he just wanted the Zach side to feel like they had a chance with him.
When it was looking like Becky was going to go, I was thinking, “Cool, people are going after Zach’s side, I can just throw the HOH, let them do that and try to get in the core of the new side that’s going to form.” But after thinking about it, I feel like I can’t really do that. Everybody knew about Becky’s alliance and that’s a big reason why she left, but I’m pretty sure people suspect my alliance too. Apparently Becky was going around saying that there was an alliance of me, Shelli, Kelsey and Corey and she’s not far off. David was also thrown out as being on “my” side.
What I’m worried about is that after the threat of the leaked alliance is neutralized, they’re going to go after me and Shelli and Kelsey. That’s probably going to be if Zach or Natalie leaves but who knows, it could be right now. I need to try to win this HOH but I also feel like if I win and get out Zach or someone, it’s just going to move me closer to the time when I’m up on the block against Shelli. It could be good to get out somebody like Arlie, who showed that I’m not in his plans but also isn’t in the alliance.
Zach was talking to me last night about how it was too bad we were on separate sides and that the people in the middle are set up really good, and he sounded so defeated. Everything he said is true and I’m very worried about the people in the middle. Jun is rebuilding the fantastic position she once had. Jackie is also playing pretty well. She voted out two of the people who voted for her and she was a big reason why Becky left. Ika not making up her mind until an hour before the deadline when it sounds like she initially wanted to keep Becky doesn’t exactly make me trust her. Howard is also someone who never comes up when people talk about the “side” that I’m on, but I do feel like he can be trusted more than some of these people. But it was also funny seeing Zach sound so defeated when he’s the reason the sides are like this! I really wanted to work with Zach until he made it clear he had other allies. And now that things aren’t going his way, he’s complaining that there are “sides”.
I’m not sure what to do. I can’t forget about the giant threat Zach poses, but it would also be dumb to do people’s work for them of going after the alliance, and letting them go after me once the threat of Zach’s alliance is neutralized.
Luckily, I think I’m the smallest target in my alliance. Kelsey was already a big target and Shelli made herself look like a big threat with this HOH reign. This should give me some time, but I have to make use of that time. I’m a little worried that my personal connections outside of my alliance are not very good, so I have to make them better. I think Jun’s going to be good to cultivate as a parachute, and I want to work on getting closer to Cody. And if Zach’s feeling defeated, maybe I can talk to him.
